Bakersfield Ranked 21!!…for Allergies 🤧
The 2025 Allergy Capitals report by AAFA ranks the 100 worst U.S. cities for allergies. Bakersfield (ranked 21) and other California cities saw major ranking jumps due to increased pollen from wet weather. Climate change is lengthening allergy seasons, worsening symptoms. Experts recommend early medication use and allergy testing for relief. Severe allergies can trigger asthma, which caused over 3,600 deaths in 2022.

🍽️Food Truck turned Restaurant
Punjabi Dhaba, Bakersfield’s beloved Indian eatery, has transitioned from a food truck to a brick-and-mortar restaurant. Originally a roadside stand serving truckers and locals, its flavorful northern Indian dishes gained national recognition. Now located in a medical complex, the new space offers an expanded menu, including street food favorites and classics like chicken tikka masala.

🍇Job Cuts - Not so Wonderful🍇
The Wonderful Co. is cutting several hundred jobs at its Wasco nursery, ceasing grapevine rootstock production due to struggles in the wine and table grape industries. Workforce reductions will leave only 15 employees from over 500. The decision follows industry-wide challenges, including declining wine demand, foreign competition, and storm-related losses.

Tariffs and Rising Costs🚙
Tariffs on aluminum and steel may raise prices on everyday items like cans, cars, and construction materials. U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio defended the move as protecting national interests, while economists warn of supply chain impacts. Experts suggest tariffs could boost domestic manufacturing and middle-class jobs, despite higher costs.
