Brief Update
🚨New Scam Alert
The Kern County Sheriff’s Office warns of a recurring phone scam involving fake deputies demanding urgent payments to avoid arrest. Victims are threatened with false claims like missed jury duty and are pressured to pay via gift cards, bitcoin, or electronic transfers. Scammers even spoof KCSO’s number. Red flags include urgency, phone payments, angry callers, and refusal to hang up. KCSO urges residents to hang up and report scams by calling 661-861-3110.

Author’s note: be cautious of Toll Road texting scams as well. With high travel times such as spring break, scammers are hoping to scare you into paying false toll fees.
🏃🏻♀️Pre-Registration is Open
Pre-registration for the 2026 Bakersfield Marathons is now open and ends April 27th. After that day, registration prices go up! The marathon and half marathon races sold out in 2025 so be sure to pre-register now and get the whole family involved. The race will happen March 22, 2026.
