The Tejon Tribe-owned project is driving local economic growth, attracting businesses and vendors. The surrounding area is also developing with new retail, corporate warehouses, and residential spaces, shaping a growing community in southern San Joaquin Valley.

Name Change for Mechanics Bank Arena?

Bakersfield's Mechanics Bank Arena, Theater, and Convention Center may be renamed Dignity Health Arena under a proposed 10-year, $6.8 million agreement starting March 1. The venue generates $4.5 million annually, supporting city projects. Councilman Andrae Gonzales sees the deal as promising and may propose using funds for purchasing the Buck Owens Crystal Palace. Mechanics Bank has held naming rights since 2019.
