124-Foot LDS Steeple Sparks Concerns

The LDS Church proposes a 124-foot steeple in Bakersfield, exceeding the 60-foot building code and sparking concerns from nearby residents of Brighton Parks, a 55+ community. Neighbors worry about zoning violations, light pollution, and lack of compromise. The church emphasizes the steeple's religious significance, while an environmental impact study will determine the project's future. The city plans to review the proposal after council approval of a consulting contract, with debates ongoing between the church and the community.
