PG&E Warns Consumers of Scammers
In 2024, over 500 Bakersfield residents fell victim to PG&E scams, with fraudsters demanding immediate payments and threatening service disconnection. PG&E warns customers never to share financial details over the phone or pay via pre-paid cards or cryptocurrency. PG&E advises customers to verify any suspicious calls by logging onto PGE.com and reporting scams to the FTC at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
March 2-8 is Consumer Protection Week, with efforts to educate the public on fraud prevention.

Store Closure Alert
Sole 2 Soul at The Marketplace in Bakersfield is closing on March 16 due to rising expenses. However, the Visalia location and Bakersfield run club will continue operating. The closure was announced on social media Monday.

CSUB student-athletes Bentley and Kadar Waller launched Bentley Bowl, a soul food truck, after starting a catering business during COVID. Their truck serves hearty dishes, including vegan options, across Bakersfield. They aim to grow their business into a franchise post-graduation.

On March 4, Bakersfield protesters joined the nationwide 50-50-1 movement at the Liberty Bell, opposing Trump administration policies on immigration, social security, and DEI programs.
